Tennis in the United States is played on three kinds of places: public park courts run by a city or county, member clubs and country clubs with their own pros and leagues, and commercial tennis centers that sell court time by the hour. Public courts are usually free and first come, first served, with a posted limit (often 60-90 minutes when others are waiting); busier cities run online reservation systems with a small fee and a permit for the season. Indoor courts are rented by the hour and booked days ahead in winter. Most facilities are hard courts; clay is common in the Southeast and at private clubs, and grass is rare. Lights extend play into the evening at many parks, sometimes with a coin or app-operated switch.

Waukegan is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Waukegan follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. Terrible experience. Booked a room for my son after he had to leave his Airbnb bc of gunshots outside as well as a group of men approaching his car at the red light. It was the middle of the night so had to reserve room for an 8am checkin- it was only 3am at this point. He had not had any sleep and tried to wait in the lobby until check in and was screamed at by a hotel employee that he was not allowed to wait in the lobby. He called me, and I told them we are Marriott timeshare owners ( gold elite bonvoy) and asked if there was a resolution where he could even just wait in his car until his room was ready. ( I had already paid the $268 for it) was told no- they didnt care and if he was on property until his room was ready they would call the police on him. He is a mild mannered, quiet kid so he wasnt causing any disturbance, except for the hotel employee, when she started screaming at him. I explained that he would be unsafe driving without sleep and trying to wait for his room at a gas station at 3am in Chicago and they said that is not their problem. I told them to just cancel the reservation. He had to drive an hour and a half to find a hotel and we were lucky he did not fall a

As a Marriott Gold Elite member, I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Courtyard Waukegan Gurnee. The biggest issue occurred at checkout when I was charged a pet fee for my two service animals. When I informed the front desk associate that service animals are not pets and are protected under the ADA, instead of simply removing the charge, I was given a hard time and had to argue to have the fee removed. No guest with a disability should have to defend their right to be accompanied by service animals or feel as though they need to justify their disability. I have stayed at many Marriott properties over the years and have generally had excellent experiences, which is why this was so disappointing. I hope management provides additional training to staff on ADA requirements and Marriott's service animal policy so future guests are treated with the respect and professionalism they deserve. Unfortunately, this experience fell well below the standard I've come to expect from Marriott.
